Kalamaki

Beach holiday with lots of place in the sun on miles of state beach.
On the beautiful, natural , wide sandy beach of Kalamaki a small pedestrian promenade has emerged with several good restaurants and cafes. In the parallel street behind it are the hotels and shops. Especially for families and people who like it a little quieter , Kalamaki is an ideal vacation spot . In recent years, Kalamaki has grown into a small tourist center and is considered the quiet alternative to Matala.

 

Kalamaki beach is about 200 meters south of the village on the beach of Komo - one of the most beautiful beach on Crete ! Behind the beach is fenced an archaeological excavation site . Here the Minoan port of Phaistos was found. Even in the summer is in Komo not much going on that 100-200 travelers are distributed on more than 2 km long beach.
Komo is one of the beaches on Crete, in the sand , the huge Schildköten Caretta caretta in the summer bury their eggs and hatch as the boys in the summer.
